new beginnings

Hello dear readers!

Kelsey here.  You may have noticed that it's been a bit quiet over here for the past couple of months, and we wanted to let you know why!

I've decided to move to my own blog, and it's called:  The Farmer's Daughter.  I would absolutely LOVE if you'd like to follow along over there with me!  Here are my new facebook, bloglovin', and instagram pages.  I can't wait to start this new adventure, and hope you'll come along for the ride!


I have absolutely loved being a part of p.s.heart for the past couple of years, and have had so much fun learning and growing with Clara (and Jordyn).  All of our lives are in such different places right now, and I feel like it's time to move ahead and have my own blog again.

What will it look like?  Well, I'll mainly be going back to my roots and focusing mostly on food (my first love!), with the occasional outfit or photography post thrown in.

I'll also be archiving some of my favorite posts from p.s.heart over onto the new blog as well, and updating older recipes as well.

Clara will be keeping p.s.heart, and will be posting here and there as she has time.  (Keep an eye out for some gorgeous house updates!).  And you can always follow along with her photography website and facebook page!

together again // (a belated post)

So this post is embarrassingly late....oops!

Way back in June, Clara had a wedding to photograph in Kamloops, and asked if I'd second shoot for her!  Of course I said yes (duh!), and we were able to make it into a mini vacation together.  It was an amazing few days of laughter, a belated birthday celebration, forgotten luggage (sorry Clara...that will never not be funny! ;) hehe), amazing food, exploring, thrifting and just enjoying spending time with each other in person.

Kamloops was gorgeous.  The locations we found were stunning.  And the wedding was perfect.

It's always so much fun to go exploring with Clara....especially when we stumble on the most photogenic little spots!  We're like the same person, and just give each other a look, maybe a laugh, and then quickly pull out our cameras!  We saw this gorgeous white fence with pink flowers peeking out, and couldn't resist taking a few snaps on our way to breakfast one morning.



Brambles was perhaps them most unexpected and wonderful surprise of our trip!  We stopped in Merritt for lunch on our way to Kamloops, and had no clue where we should eat.  If you're familiar with the town, you'll know it's pretty small, and we had resigned ourselves to fast food when we stumbled upon this cute little café!  The food was amazing, and the décor was adorable.  It was the perfect pit stop!

And I believe in the photo below Clara is explaining why it's perfectly acceptable to begin a meal with your dessert!

Above are a few snaps from the wedding!  It was ridiculously hot day, but everyone was so relaxed and full of joy that it made our job so much fun!  Three cheers for an adventurous bride and groom that didn't mind trekking into the wilderness on the side of a mountain!  So gorgeous.

holga // 1

I purchased a Holga camera a couple of years ago after falling in love with the uniqueness of lomography.  Imperfect photos and light leaks stole my heart, and I knew that I wanted to try my hand at creating film images of my own.  

Now it took me forever and a day to actually fill up two rolls of film and have them developed....as in, it took me a good year and a half.  Yikes.  One of the biggest things that kept me from taking my Holga along with me on more adventures is that I was terrified the shutter being released inside my bag, and ruining potential photos!  So I tried taking it with me when I knew there would be an opportunity to be carrying it in my hands for most of the day.

*And because I'm a noob and was in a rush to load my colour film into my Holga, the frames didn't line up...therefore resulting in some strange double and triple exposures!

Mardi Gras.  (Fat Tuesday).  Shrove Tuesday.  Pancake Day.

I don't care what you call it.....I'll take any excuse to eat pancakes.

I hope you were able to enjoy some pancakes, or at least something fatty. Ha!  Calories don't count on Fat Tuesday, right?  Riggghhht?!

These pancakes are actually gluten-free, and were surprisingly fluffy and amazing. You can find the recipe here, at Mountain Mama Cooks!  Delish.  And oh so good for having in my back pocket when I have any of my gluten-free friends over for breakfast!

Anyway, Happy Tuesday friends.  Hope all of your weeks are going well....and if not, then you deserve to treat yourself to some pancakes!

finding our Christmas tree

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is going out to find and cut down a tree with my dad.  Unfortunately for me, attending university for the last 5 years in a different city usually meant that I couldn't go with him!  So this year I was pretty excited to be around to go with him, and hunt down the perfect tree.

The tree farm we went to is about 2 minutes from our farm, and we've been going there for years.  We love walking around several times, examining each tree before we make a final decision.  

It's serious business, tree hunting.

But for real, we probably take way too much time picking one out!

This year our tree was a funny one, and we actually had to cut it several feet off the ground!  We were hoping our estimating skills were spot on, and that it wasn't going to be super short or too tall.  Thankfully, it was just right.

There really is nothing like the lovely smell of a real tree!

Favorite Movember projects from 2012

It's November first, which means....Movember time!  Soon you'll notice that some of the men in your life are looking a little sketchy, or, in some cases, more manly.

We thought we'd share a few of our Movember/moustache projects from last year!

Clara made these incredible movember sharpie mugs last year.  I am seriously so jealous of her handwriting.  Man, that girl has skills!

Jordyn and I made sugar cookies....twice.

Once with butter cream icing, and once with royal icing.

We made these super easy cupcake toppers.

And finally, we showed you how to throw a moustache party (which was actually Jordyn's 20th birthday party!).

We're already brainstorming more Movember-inspired ideas for the next month, so stay tuned!

Happy Halloween! {and a nerdy pumpkin carving affair}

Jordyn and I hosted a pumpkin carving party on Saturday, and it was one giant nerdfest.  The resulting pumpkins were absolutely hilarious, and I'm so proud of us.  Haha.  The above two pumpkins are Loki (on the left) and Thor and his exploding hammer (on the right), and are Jordyn's and my pumpkins respectively.

It was a fun night complete with hot apple cider, popcorn, and apple cider donuts.  So good.

Please take note of my awesome photoshop job in the above photo.  So corny, but I love it.

(hint: I'm not really holding Thor's hammer!)
