blossoms and yellow pants

So, after an eternity (aka: maybe a year) of searching....I finally have a green military parka!  Seriously though, it's been on my must-have list for so long, and I never could find the right one.  I actually got this one for Christmas (after picking it out...hehe), and I'm pretty happy with it.  Of course nothing ever quite lives up to "the one" you've built up in your head, right?  Haha.

Anywho....it's Spring!  And here it actually feels like Spring.  We even hit 20 degrees this week.  Pretty stoked about that.  Oh ya, and the cherry blossoms are also in full bloom and are ridiculously gorgeous.  I'm thinking someone needs to engineer an ever-blooming cherry tree.  Who's with me?

outfit post: plaid over a chambray dress

This outfit was definitely inspired by the plaid shirt over wedding dress fad that's been going around pinterest for a while now.  I think it's beautiful and quirky, and perfect for a farm girl getting married.  I chose to layer a classic red and black plaid shirt over a chambray and lace dress.  I loved the contrast of the lacy, feminine dress with the cozy, farm girl plaid!  Knee high socks and boots were added to keep me a bit warmer, and helped make this outfit perfect for  Fall!

The apples surrounding me are the last apples we have in the field, and are a late variety of Pink Lady apples.  They're just about ready to pick...finally!  Although they did provide a lovely backdrop for these photos.

outfit post: sometimes simple is best

Sometimes simple is best.

I feel like this outfit is a combo of my absolute favorite basics in my closet right now.  There's my insanely comfy and soft chambray shirt, a cream lace top, and my fave skinnies at the moment.  And of course a pair of oxfords.  Kind of in love with them.

Also, if you think you see a bit of a sunburn on my chest...the answer is yes.  Our pumpkin and apple farm is crazy busy during the Fall, and I'm working outside everyday.  I'm learning the hard way that you can get burned even when on a cloudy, coolish day!  Blurgh.

Also, it's raining in these photos.  I know you can't really tell, except that's what those little flecks in my hair are (not dandruff...haha).  Hello Fall in the Fraser Valley I guess?  We've been alternating hot sunny days (today hit 24 degrees!), with overcast drizzly days....and it will likely just get colder and wetter as the weeks go by.  One nice thing about it is the lighting is nice all day!  Look on the brightside, right?

Hope you all had wonderful weeks!

outfit post: lace and chambray love

Have I mentioned how much I'm going to miss the beach once I move home for the summer?  Because I'm going to miss it...A LOT!!  I guess all I can do about it is enjoy it while I can, and this means going on as many beach walks/runs as I possibly can!

My favorite part about this shirt is hands down the back.  It looks like just another plain ol' chambray shirt, but then BAM there's lace!  I've had my eye on this shirt since October, but the price scared me too much to even try it on.  Sooo...I ended up stalking it for the next few months, and was lucky enough to snatch it up during a 75% off winter sale!  Woohoo!

I also picked up these red pants during that sale too, which I was pretty stoked about.  I was waiting to find the perfect pair, and fell in love with the lovely wine red tone of these ones!

I hope you are all enjoying the first couple weeks of Spring!  It's been (mostly) beautiful here in Van, and the crazy amount of cherry blossoms everywhere has been bringing me so much joy!
