outfit post: the nevada dress

I adore summers in Edmonton. It's gloriously hot, but not humid, and it doesn't get dark until 11pm. And we all know that long summer days and nights call for summer dresses! Which is why I am so excited about this collaboration that we've done with Bootlegger. Kelsey posted her hampton dress here, and I'm so excited to show off my nevada dress from Bootlegger's new Free Spirited Summer Collection and wear it all summer long!

I'm seriously in love with this dress...The unique embroidery immediately caught my eye and I love the fresh bohemian look it creates. It makes me think of warm sun, fields of green grass, late summer nights, chilling to indie music, and dancing as the sun sets.

Seriously. All this glorious summer light makes me so ridiculously happy :)

Happy summer dress days, friends!

outfit post: long island beach days

Beach days are glorious days.

There's so much freedom and I adore how the ocean is both so wild and peaceful...
There's nothing quite like it in this world. Not to mention the sand. All that beautiful, soft, white sand! Is there anything better?

Maybe the prairies.....

Hah! Who am I kidding, as much as I love my city, I would move in a heartbeat if Caleb and I were ever called to live near the ocean. But until then, I'll just be dreaming of Long Island's beautiful beaches and be thankful that there is beauty in every landscape, even in the prairies.

outfit post : mint and floral high-low

I knew that I just had to take Clara to Fort Langley while she was visiting, and man did we have fun.  Fort Langley is chock full of cute local shops, tons of antique stores, and delicious little restaurants!  We had fun shopping, eating, and of course....taking a few photos.

This is outfit is my latest fave, and I'm trying not to wear it every time I leave the house.  It's basically all of my faves summed up: mint, lace, floral, and a skirt.  So much love.  Embarrassingly enough, all of these pieces came from the same store (the garage), but I don't even care.

This little mint top is actually a crop top, but I tucked it into my skirt since I'm not brave enough to be baring any tummy. haha.  I'm so in love with it that I'll probably be heading back for another one (or two or three?) in different colours!  I love the versatility it brings to an outfit, and can't wait to pair it with more things from my closet!

Oh gosh, this suitcase!  We found it in an antique shop, and both fell in love.  I carried it around for a good while as we browsed, but a different vintage suitcase caught my eye....and I just couldn't justify buying both, so I had to leave it behind.  So sad!

And thanks goes to Clara for the photos!  Being able to take photos of each other is just another reason that we need to live closer to each other SOON!!!

thirsty tuesday: blueberry coconut mojitos

This week, I'm announcing a "thirsty" tuesday. With all this glorious summer heat and sun, I've been craving summery ice cold drinks - so here's one of my favourite ones. Fresh blueberries, mint leaves, coconut rum, and "ice, ice baby"! (excuse the craziness, it's the heat, I swear!).

This drink tastes even better than it looks. So go grab some fresh berries and mix away to chase away the summer heat!

[  i  n  g  r  e  d  i  e  n  t  s  ]

1 + 1/2 cups of fresh blueberries
1 + 1/4 cup of water  (can add soda water instead too!)
sweetener to taste  (honey is lovely, but syrup and sugar are okay too)
4 oz coconut rum  (malibu's is sooo tasty!)
a handful of fresh mint leaves  (around 10-14 leaves)
1 tray of ice cubes  ("ice, ice baby...")

[  i  n  s  t  r  u  c  t  i  o  n  s  ]

1. Blend the first 3 ingredients together to make blueberry juice.
2. Add in your fresh mint leaves and let the juice sit for around 10-15mins. so that it soaks up the minty flavour!
3. Mix in your blueberry juice, tray of ice, and coconut rum and shake it up!
4. Pour your delicious mojito into your cups, throw in some fresh blueberries, and garnish with more mint leaves to make it pretty :)

Make your way over to your porch, grab your summer read, kick back your feet, and enjoy!
