outfit post: peter pan collar & pastels

I really really love peter pan collars.
I'm shocked that my wardrobe doesn't contain more items with them, but I'm working on remedying that.  I found this top on ruche during a mega sale, and I'm in love!  I love pale pinks, and the lace detailing is just lovely.  I paired it with my mint pants and simple flats, and since it's Fall, and a bit chilly, I added my new favorite navy blazer for warmth!

In other news, I'm off the Edmonton to visit Clara TOMORROW!   I cannot even express how excited I am.  I love that girl so much!

pumpkin squares with creamcheese icing

This recipe is seriously fail-proof. It is soooo good, perfect for fall, and so simple!

They're always a hit and although they always satisfy my pumpkin cravings...

they definitely keep me coming for more :)

Ingredients:

3 eggs
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup oil

2 cans (15 ounces each) of pumpkin puree

2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
3 tsp cinnamon
pinch of nutmeg
pinch of cloves

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix first four ingredients in a medium sized bowl until light and fluffy.
Sift together the dry ingredients separately, then stir into wet mixture.
Spread batter into a 9x13 inch pan that is greased.
Bake for 30 minutes.
Cool before frosting!

Cream Cheese Frosting:

1 8 ounce package of cream cheese
1/2 cup of softened butter
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups of icing sugar

I promise, you won't regret making these! They're always a favourite and get gobbled up right away :)

outfit post: stripes and mustard

I absolutely can't believe that October is almost over!  Seriously?  Where did it go?

I'm so sad that our apple harvest is nearly over, and almost all of our pumpkins have been sold.  I'm so so sad that I didn't get to take advantage of the gorgeous backdrop the farm provides this Fall for more photoshoots...but I've just been too darn busy working!  Therefore, today after work I raced into the house to get cleaned up a bit so that I could head back out into the field to take some photos.  Jordyn and I were even treated to the most magnificent sunset while we were out there.  So lovely.

Also, it was ridiculously windy while we took these photos.  It was crazy, and so beautiful as it rained down coloured leaves around us.  Have I mentioned how much I love Fall yet?

Also, we had an epic pumpkin carving contest last night.  It was the bomb.  Can't wait to share it with you all!

outfit post : fall basics + the best shoes ever.

I went thrifting last week and found some absolute gems - one of which are these shoes in this outfit post. Seriously. I am in loveeee with these! Real leather, a little heel, laces, some ruffles - basically, they're my dream fall shoe. 

So here's another back to fall basics outfit for you that Caleb was kind enough to snap away for me while on our Sunday afternoon walk together :)

diy: black and white painted pumpkins

Today I have another simple idea for decorating pumpkins that doesn't involve carving (in case you missed it, I made dip dyed glitter pumpkins last week)!  I decided to do some simple colour blocking with black and white, and I love how they came out.

Materials:

-pumpkins

-acrylic paint

-paint brush

-tape

Directions:

First I taped off each pumpkin, either diagonally, horizontally through the middle, or crisscrossing across the top.  Then, I simply painted the areas I wanted black or white, and left them to dry.  I did one coat of paint for the black, and two for the white paint.  Once they were completely dry, I carefully removed the paint.

*Of course I couldn't resist adding a bit of glitter to one pumpkin, and just painted on a bit of modge podge and sprinkled some glitter on!

The possibilities are endless, and I think that silver and gold paint would look pretty awesome as well.

outfit post : back to fall basics...

This is officially my "back to fall" outfit and had I been going back to school again this fall, it probably would've been my "back to school" look! Mustard, army green, a little bit of lace, an infinity scarf, and boots... really, it's my ideal fall look, and with the crisp weather these days, these wardrobe pieces are becoming essentials! And to make this fall post really awesome, I dragged Caleb into some photos to show off his "fall" outfit (which I obviously picked out for him... *wink*).
But really, who doesn't love a boy in plaid?
